A 75-year-old woman with a history of COPD was admitted to the ICU for respiration insufficiency caused by Influenza-A pneumonia. Mechanical ventilation was necessary even with prone positioning. After improvement, the weaning protocol was started.
The course is now complicated with signs of a new flare of infection: elevation of CRP, leucocytosis, fever up to 40 °C, increased amount of mucus. Serum procalcitonin is negative.
