Deep vein ultrasonography of lower limbs seems easy until popliteal fossa is reached. Some difficulties may start at confluence of deep calf veins (veins coming from different calf compartments) forming popliteal vein. Fortunately, scientific studies concerning deep vein thrombosis have not proved the necessity of ultrasonographic examination of these confluent veins so far and thus, allow us not to examine them – this topic will be discussed in another case.
